Weariness of a new mum

Navigating the life of a new mom entails countless sleepless nights, devoted to caring for and nourishing the newborn. The familiarities of the old lifestyle vanish, replaced by a swiftly adapted new identity and a markedly altered daily routine. Witnessing my recently initiated friend into motherhood, I observe the fatigue etched on her face.

Originally conceived as an ink sketch, this piece evolves into a drypoint print. The methodical smudging of ink before printing achieves a compelling tonal contrast that resonates with me. The stark drypoint lines contribute to an overarching sense of weight, capturing the profound gravity of the maternal experience.
